Provides the skills and background knowledge needed by the competent powerboat driver and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence. A quality mix of practical on the water learning and essential theory. To help you help to learn to drive a boat.
No prior experience is necessary. Powerboat Level 1 is not required.
2 days from 9am - 5pm
We are happy for a child above the age of 12 to participate alongside a parent or guardian. A child under the age of 16 participating on their own must do so on a specific youth powerboat course.
We operate 3 students to 1 instructor per boat. We find that this gives a good interaction between other participants and allows you to learn from viewing someone else execute a manoeuvre.
Our boats are all fitted with forward facing jockey seats for all occupants, this means that no-one is sat on the side of the tubes. Boats are fitted with Garmin and Icom electronics. All our boats are inspected annually by the RYA and equipped for training.

Coming up to a buoy, leaving and coming alongside a slipway or pontoon.
Using a powerboat at planing speed is exciting. Becoming familiar with manoeuvres at higher speeds.
Practise recovering a man overboard (dummy)
Approach, prepare, deploy and retrieve an anchor in an appropriate location.
Prepare the boat. Launch and recovery from a trailer.
Simple pilotage and passage planning. Looking at tidal and wind effects.
Locating and interpreting a weather forecast and it's relevance to the operating area.
